A RECORD 11 CHERIBUNDI BOCA RATON BOWL ALUMNI HEAD TO THE PROS AFTER 2019 NFL DRAFT

A record 11 alumni of the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl were selected in this year’s NFL Draft, surpassing the previous total of nine draftees in a single year (2017). The 2019 NFL Draft closed on Saturday and another 21 CBRB alumni signed undrafted free agent agreements with teams since. The players were spread over all five years of the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl, also a new high.

Northern Illinois offensive tackle Max Scharping was the first to be selected, going in the second round to the Houston Texans. As the 55th pick in this year’s draft, he becomes the fourth-highest pick among all CBRB alums.

With two players picked in this year’s draft (Ryquell Armstead and Michael Dogbe), the 2015 Temple University team is the leader with the most total drafted players (nine) among all CBRB teams. Temple’s Haason Reddick remains as the only CBRB alum to be picked in the first round as the 13th pick in 2017.

Thirteen players from the 2015 game have now been drafted, with the nine from Temple and four from Western Kentucky.
