2017 National Anthem Winner
Boca Bowl Idol
August 1, 2017
Boca Raton’s own Nick Aquilino will perform the National Anthem at the 2017 Boca Raton Bowl after winning the first ever Boca Bowl Idol.
Aquilino ‘s unique blend of pop, soul and hip-hop fusion captured the audience of more than 300 at the Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery.
The top eight contestants, who were determined by an open-to-the-public online voting, sang a song of their choice before the crowd voted on the top-three to perform the National Anthem. Anquilio won the crowd over with a rendition of “Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars before sealing the deal in the final round.
Entry to the event benefitted the Boca Raton Bowl’s Charity Partner, Spirit of Giving as a part of the Great Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce Festival Days. The event raised over $3000 to help those in need throughout the Boca Raton community.
Anquillo is no stranger to the spotlight. He’s performed in world-renowned venues, including the Montreux Jazz Festival. Most recently, he opened for Grammy Award Winners Phil Collins and George Clinton. Aquilino attends Berklee College of Music.
