Finalist Night Will Kick Off the Boca Chamber’s Festival Days on August 1
BOCA RATON, Fla. (June 19, 2018) – It’s that time of year again when Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl organizers kick-off the quest to find the top talent to perform the National Anthem at the 2018 bowl game, on Tuesday, December 18 at FAU Stadium. This year’s finalist night, the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl Idol Presented by Marshall Socarras Grant, will take place at The Addison on August 1 as the official kick-off event for the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce Festival Days, as announced by executive director Doug Mosley.
Along with community partners Roger Dean Stadium and the Spirit of Giving, vocalists and instrumentalists, amateurs and professionals, individuals and groups from teens through seniors are encouraged to upload their “Boca Bowl Idol” audition demo submissions on the bowl game’s official website, www.CheribundiBocaRatonBowl.com.
“Last year’s inaugural Bowl Idol competition was a resounding success as a ‘fan-tastic’ way to invite and encourage community participation in countdown to our bowl game,” shared Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl Executive Director Doug Mosley. “We look forward to expanding the wide range of entries and increasing public voting excitement so we can ‘cheer on’ and share our area’s home-grown talent and their interesting personal stories with bowl fans.”
Entering Is Easy As An Online Click
Those who are interested in sharing their talent (vocal or instrumental) must upload an audition demo video between Friday, June 1 and Thursday, June 28, as well as complete the official online entry form and provide a hi-res color headshot. On Friday, July 6, selected entries will be featured on the Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl website for public voting. The “Bowl Idol poll” will close on Sunday, July 15, at 11:59 p.m.
Open-to-the-Public Finalist Night, August 1, Benefits Spirit of Giving
The top-eight competitors will be invited to compete live at the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl Idol Presented by Marshall Socarras Grant, held for the first time at The Addison in Boca Raton. A combination of audience votes and judges selections will determine three finalists who will perform once more to see who will be chosen as this year’s “Boca Bowl Idol.” Admission is $35, including food provided by The Addison. A cash bar will also be available. Proceeds from the event will benefit Spirit of Giving’s Back to School Bash. About the Boca Raton Bowl:
The Boca Raton Bowl is one of 41 postseason college bowl games in the country and the only one hosted in Palm Beach County. Featuring all the pomp and circumstance of traditional bowl events, the Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl is a high-energy, entertaining experience for both college football fans and non-fans alike and allows the national spotlight to shine on Boca Raton and Palm Beach County. This year, the fifth annual bowl game will have primary tie-ins for teams from Conference USA and the American Athletic Conference with the Mid-American Athletic Conference having a secondary tie-in. The team from Conference USA will make its headquarters at the Boca Raton Resort & Club and the American Athletic Conference team will be at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens.
This bowl game first ‘touched down’ in 2014 and has since aired live annually on ESPN throughout the U.S., as well as on international affiliates in South America, the Caribbean, Australia and Europe as well as on ESPN Radio. As one of 14 bowl games owned and operated by ESPN Events, a division of ESPN, this year’s bowl game is once again held on the Tuesday before Christmas. The event has become a celebrated annual holiday tradition in Boca Raton and Palm Beach County as it lives up to its other name, ‘Boca’s Biggest Annual Outdoor Party’.” Bowl week activities will begin with the arrival of the participating teams on Friday, Dec. 14.
