Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl Invites Public to Get in the Game
During 2019 Bowl Week
From Team Airport Arrivals to Kickoff
Boca Raton, FL (November 14, 2019)—While they may not be recruited for the field, area residents and businesses are encouraged to get in the game during the week of activities (December 17 – December 21) leading up to the sixth annual Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl on Saturday, December 21 that will kick off in the Florida Sunshine at 3:30 p.m. at FAU Stadium. There are plenty of opportunities for South Floridians to be a part of the excitement during the only NCAA-sanctioned post-season college football bowl game in Palm Beach County that will be televised live on the ABC network.
As Bowl leadership and the County ramp up preparations for the bowl match-up, the roster of free and open-to-the-public events include:
- Tuesday, December 17: Times TBD via CheribundiBocaRatonBowl.com
- Join Bowl leadership and county, city and tourism officials on the tarmac at Palm Beach International Airport to give a warm Palm Beach County welcome to the two 2019 bowl teams. This will be the first impression the teams will have of the bowl destination, so residents and businesses are encouraged to come out and show their South Florida pride and hospitality.
- Friday, December 20: Jupiter Community Pep Rally
Abacoa Amphitheatre – Jupiter: 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.- Join the school band, cheer and dance squads and mascot to rally up the
Mid-American Conference team with a fun filled pep rally. All while enjoying their Friday night at Downtown Abacoa where there are endless opportunities to eat and drink. Admission is free; food, beverages (including beer and cocktails) and vendor purchases are not included. Attendees are welcome to bring a chair or blanket to sit and enjoy the show. - Friday, December 20: Boca Raton Community Pep Rally with a Country Music Twist
Mizner Park Amphitheater: 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Sponsored by City of Boca Raton and Spirit of Giving- In true T.G.I.F. heel-kicking country style, the community is invited to come out to dine, dance and cheer at Boca’s Country Music BBQ, the pre-party for Palm Beach County’s only sanctioned bowl game. Hosted by the City of Boca Raton and Spirit of Giving on the night before the 2019 Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl, a live performance from “Shadow Creek Band” will fill the amphitheater with a blend of honky-tonk, country rock music. There will be plenty of food truck barbecue eats, picnic table seating, interactive activities under the South Florida Fair tent, country dancing, pop-up vendors, and community camaraderie plus spirited performances by the team’s band, cheer, dance squads and mascot to rally around the American Athletic Conference team. Admission is free; food, beverages (including beer and cocktails) and vendor purchases are not included. Attendees are welcome to bring a chair or blanket. Chairs will also be for rent inside the venue for $5 cash.
- Saturday, December 21: Game Day for “Boca’s Biggest Annual Outdoor Party”
Noon – Pre-game tailgating and FREE festivities at the Fan Fest and Family Midway surrounding the stadium kicks off the fun. There will be plenty to do, see and hear, including live band performances by WOLFHAWK (revving up with high-energy rock songs from AC/DC, Foo Fighters, Bon Jovi, Led Zeppelin and original music), family fun and games, food trucks, amusement rides, and exhibition tents featuring giveaways and contests. A popular crowd-pleaser is watching the entertainment-filled, friendly face-off of the marching bands and cheerleader squads with photo ops of the mascots from the competing bowl teams.
3:00 p.m. – Opening ceremonies with all the pomp and revelry of traditional bowl game kickoff ceremonies, the time-honored coin flip and the National Anthem performance sung by the 2019 Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl Idol winners, sister/brother duo Evelyn and Raphael Martins.
